I don’t remember if I read that somewhere or if I made it up along the way, but any email I send out has an action attached to it. Every email they are going to get from me sells them something. It can be an action, a challenge, connecting with me on facebook, downloading a free report, or buying a product.
So basically *any* email is a promotional one. And I don’t even get that many opt-outs because the guys who just want free stuff will just skip the line where I say “and by the way, if you want to see how others do this in the real world, there’s a great video excerpt from my DVD series here : [link]”
Here’s one of my autoresponders :
- Day 0 - Hi, Controversial content with tons of advice (2,000+ word email). short PS with a link to my product.
- Day 1 - hey, i’ve got some flame response to my last email (true story). + advice + I’m awesome, but you could be me - i’ll tell you my story in a next email. oh, by the way, i’ve got a dvd that’s gonna be awesome for you. link.
- Day 2 - I just put that story in a podcast - see it there and leave your comment (link).
- Day 4 - how have you used my advice in the last days ? let me know. by the way, here’s 2 emails i got from subscribers + my comments. and hey, that last email is so close to what we talk about in my 3rd product. See an excerpt online here + link.
etc…
By day 4 lots of sales are already coming in.
Remember this : nobody’s gonna buy something from you 45 days after opt-in.. because if they wanted to BUY help/info so bad, and you’re not the one providing it in these 45 days, then they’ll buy it somewhere else.
